KPK seizes Rp 800 million linked to Summarecon and gang leader Hercules
Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission confiscated Rp 800 million from the lawyer of gang figure Rosario “Hercules” de Marshal, alleging the cash originated from property developer Summarecon.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reported that it took possession of Rp 800 million in cash from the lawyer of Rosario “Hercules” de Marshal on Oct. 15, describing the money as suspected proceeds from the developer Summarecon. KPK officials linked the cash to attempts by Summarecon to unlock several right-to-build (HGB) permits in Bogor, West Java, which had been blocked after landowners challenged the extensions in court.
This seizure follows a prior crackdown that saw a director-general of the Agrarian and Spatial Planning Ministry, the president-director of PT Summarecon Agung, and other officials arrested on bribery suspicions. GRIB Jaya, the United Indonesian People’s Movement led by Novianus Martin Bau, said the money was handed back in good faith to clarify its origin. The incident highlights the influence of informal networks in land-related disputes and raises concerns about corruption risks in Indonesia’s property sector.
