KPMG launches CEO-direct AI incubator to fast-track new tech businesses
KPMG has merged its AI, innovation and ecosystem units into a new Client Technology & Innovation group led by Todd Lohr, who will report directly to CEO Tim Walsh.
Effective Sept. 22, KPMG LLP consolidated its AI, innovation and ecosystem functions into a newly created Client Technology & Innovation (CT&I) division, placing it under the direct supervision of CEO Tim Walsh. Todd Lohr, a longtime KPMG executive who helped launch the firm’s early data and AI practices, will lead the unit, which aims to launch AI-driven products and services at the pace of a startup. The reorganization coincides with the retirement of Steve Chase, the former vice chair and global head of AI.
CT&I’s four pillars cover product and platform strategy, new commercial models, a firm-wide AI and data roadmap, and an internal venture studio that can incubate, spin out or integrate “edge” companies. Partnerships with Anthropic, Google Cloud, Microsoft, OpenAI and Databricks will be managed within the new ecosystem mandate, and the group is positioned to create billion-dollar ventures for the firm’s future growth.
