Kremlin condemns UK missile assistance to Ukraine as escalation

The Kremlin issued a sharp rebuke of the United Kingdom after the British government decided to give Ukraine classified details about components of the SCALP long-range cruise missile, labeling the act as adding fuel to the fire. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserted that Britain is actively working to prevent any progress toward a peace settlement and is repeatedly escalating the war. He said Russian forces are already collecting intelligence to locate and destroy any sites where such missiles might be produced.

The comments coincided with Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s arrival in Kyiv on his inaugural overseas trip, where he was set to unveil British assistance for Ukraine’s domestic missile production. Earlier, Moscow warned London of unspecified “consequences” for supplying drones that had reportedly been used in long-range strikes against Russian territory. Burnham reiterated Britain’s full commitment to supporting Ukraine against what he described as an illegal war.
