Kremlin says Russia ready to resume trilateral talks with US and Ukraine

A Kremlin official announced that Russia is prepared to restart three-way negotiations with Washington and Kyiv in November to end the war in Ukraine.

A senior Kremlin spokesman said Russia is set to re-engage in trilateral negotiations with the United States and Ukraine later this month, aiming for a cease-fire and a settlement to the conflict. The comment came after US envoy Steve Witkoff met President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, having earlier met European leaders and President Volodymyr Zelensky in Oslo, where Kyiv asked for a halt to fighting along one outlet front line as a first step.

Yuri Ushakov noted that the Kyiv-European proposals conveyed by Witkoff contain little substantive material, yet Moscow will still pursue talks in November. Witkoff described the St. Petersburg talks as constructive and said they will continue within the trilateral framework. In related developments, Russia announced the release of an American convicted of mercenary activities and the imminent departure of a tanker carrying 40,000 tonnes of Russian diesel to the United States.
