KRX activates buy-side sidecar as KOSDAQ rebounds past 800 points
The Korea Exchange triggered a buy-side sidecar for KOSDAQ after the index surged past the 800-point mark.
On Friday, the Korea Exchange (KRX) launched a buy-side sidecar for the secondary KOSDAQ market following a sharp rebound in the index. Earlier, KOSDAQ had experienced a sell-side sidecar and a circuit breaker that drove the index down more than 7 percent. The recovery lifted the index 5.27 percent to 800.90, re-entering the 800-point zone. The sidecar activates when KOSDAQ 150 futures rise at least 6 percent and the KOSDAQ 150 index gains at least 3 percent for one minute.
Why it matters
The sidecar activation signals strong market volatility and a rapid recovery in South Korea's tech-focused KOSDAQ index.
