KUSKOP submits budget 2027 plan to boost MSMEs and cut business costs
The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) has presented budget 2027 proposals to the finance ministry aimed at increasing support for micro, small and medium enterprises, streamlining government services and lowering business expenses in Malaysia.
In preparation for the 2027 fiscal plan, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) submitted a comprehensive package of proposals to the Ministry of Finance. Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong outlined three core goals: expanding financial and other resources for micro, small and medium enterprises, cutting red tape to improve government service efficiency, and decreasing the cost of doing business across Malaysia.
The ministry consulted numerous stakeholder groups—Malay, Chinese and Indian chambers of commerce, the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, SME Association, Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia, MSME Malaysia and the Federation of Malaysian Business Associations—as well as NGOs representing MSMEs, and incorporated their suggestions. Sim, who also chairs the Penang DAP and serves as MP for Bukit Mertajam, presented the proposals after a visit to one outlet Penang Bureau for a Mooncake Festival event. The specific initiatives remain undisclosed until the budget, themed “Malaysia MADANI: Menggapai Di Langit, Mengakar di Bumi,” is tabled by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 9.
