Kyiv mayor warns of fuel shortages as Russian strikes hit city gas stations

At a press briefing during the Yalta European Strategy conference, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko explained that the city cannot build shelters at all gas stations and is also facing a deficit of missiles capable of destroying drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. He said this shortage hampers efforts to protect fuel infrastructure, which has come under increased Russian fire, with four attacks on Kyiv gas stations recorded over the last seven days.

The September 10 strike marked the first time a gas station inside the capital was targeted, expanding a campaign that had previously focused on front-line areas. Klitschko added that Kyiv has accumulated fuel reserves to sustain generators during potential power outages as winter approaches. He emphasized that authorities are drafting multiple response scenarios, including worst-case outcomes, to ensure continuity of fuel supplies for civilians and the military.
