Kyiv metro halts on all three lines after sudden voltage drop
A voltage drop forced the shutdown of Kyiv’s three subway lines and escalators during the evening rush hour on October 8.
During the evening rush on October 8, Kyiv’s metro system experienced a complete halt across its three lines after a sudden drop in voltage from external sources, according to City Hall. The power loss also rendered all station escalators inoperative. Local Telegram channels indicated that certain tram and trolleybus services had also been suspended.
Authorities noted that there were no reports of Russian strikes targeting critical energy facilities in the city. The metro’s blue and green lines have begun to run again, though trains are arriving less often, while the red line still has no service. Officials are working to restore full operations.
