Labor MP Ed Husic returns to duties after surviving serious Sydney crash

Ed Husic, the Labor member for Chifley, was injured in a serious collision on Sydney's M7 motorway on August 4, when his vehicle struck a truck and another car. Hospital treatment revealed minor abrasions, a hairline fracture in a vertebra and a concussion, after which he was released the following day. Husic told a journalist at one outlet that he cannot recall the period from the crash until regaining consciousness in the emergency department.

He expressed gratitude for surviving the incident and described the recovery process as gradual, noting he must avoid contact sports such as parliamentary basketball. After a brief absence, he returned to work last week and plans to be present when parliament reconvenes. Dash-cam video of the crash has been shared with police, and he continues to focus on serving his constituents while managing his health.
