Labour holds Holborn and St Pancras as Green leader Polanski finishes second
Labour candidate Sagal Abdi‑Wali won the Holborn and St Pancras by‑election with 12,292 votes, or 45% of the total, while Green Party leader Zack Polanski received 8,928 votes, or 33%. The Conservative candidate came third. The count recorded a 13% swing from Labour to the Greens and a 22.4% increase in the Greens' vote share, with turnout at 38.76%. Polanski said he will remain as Green leader after the loss. Abdi‑Wali, a former Somali refugee, highlighted inclusion and public ownership of Thames Water in her victory speech.
