Labour Party adviser sentenced to 30 days for facilitating prostitution

A Labour Party parliamentary adviser has been handed a 30-day unconditional prison term after being convicted of promoting prostitution.

The Oslo District Court sentenced a political adviser from the Labour Party's parliamentary group to 30 days in jail without parole. The conviction stems from his role in arranging financial support for an Albanian sex worker over more than two years. Prosecutors said he provided two of his bank accounts for the woman's use, effectively facilitating her illegal activities.

Why it matters

It shows that political staff can be held accountable for involvement in illegal prostitution activities.
