Lakers add former Heat executive Eric Amsler as second assistant GM

The Los Angeles Lakers have completed their second assistant general manager hire of the offseason, bringing in Eric Amsler from the Miami Heat. Amsler, who most recently served as the Heat's vice president of player personnel, spent more than two decades with Miami, starting as an intern in 2004-05 and advancing through scouting, player-personnel, and executive roles, including stints with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The appointment follows the May hiring of Rohan Ramadas and aligns with Lakers president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka's stated goal of building a larger front-office staff.

Pelinka said the organization is constructing new infrastructure and will continue adding assistant GM positions. Amsler's extensive scouting and personnel experience is expected to bolster the Lakers' roster-building efforts for the upcoming season.
