Landslide in Cebu City's Pulangbato Village Claims Three Lives

A landslide in Barangay Pulangbato, Cebu City killed two children and a senior citizen on Friday, prompting evacuations and rescue efforts.

Intense rainfall in early October weakened the soil on the hillside of Barangay Pulangbato, Cebu City, causing a landslide on Friday that trapped a family of four. Rescue crews extracted a 5-year-old child at about 1:45 p.m., who later died while receiving medical care, and a 38-year-old woman at 2:26 p.m., who remains hospitalized. A 6-year-old child was recovered at 4:24 p.m. but had already passed away, and a 60-year-old woman was found dead at 5:43 p.m. The difficult terrain slowed further recovery operations. Mayor Nestor Archival confirmed that medical personnel were on site and that affected residents were being evacuated to the Pulangbato Gym.
