Large blaze engulfs makeshift homes in Baia Mare's Craica district

A fast-moving fire broke out early Wednesday in Craica, Baia Mare, consuming several improvised dwellings and covering over 500 square metres.

Around 04:00 on Wednesday morning, a violent fire erupted in the Craica area of Baia Mare, igniting a cluster of makeshift houses on Păltinișului Street. The flames expanded across more than 500 square metres, fueled by plentiful combustible debris and gusty winds that accelerated the spread. Emergency crews responded with a substantial deployment: two primary intervention and command vehicles, seven water-foam trucks, three water tankers, and two municipal utility units, plus an additional unit from SPSU Aramis Invest.

Two SMURD rescue teams provided first-aid readiness. Firefighters worked on three fronts to extinguish existing hotspots and prevent the fire from reaching adjacent structures. Up to the time of reporting, no casualties or deaths have been confirmed.
