Large Metallic Object Found in Minnesota Cornfield Triggers Space Debris Probe
Authorities discovered an 11-foot metallic object in a Stevens County cornfield that may be space debris, prompting a multi-agency investigation.
A metallic object roughly 11 feet in diameter was reported in a cornfield near Scott Township, Stevens County, on October 14 at about 3:30 p.m. Sheriff Jason Dingman said the discovery, described as possible space debris, has drawn several federal agencies to the site, though he could not name them. The object bears serial numbers that may allow investigators to identify its manufacturer or owner. Local resident Tena Wilts, who saw the object while driving nearby, compared its size to a large truck and noted recent tornado activity in the area.
Authorities have assured the public that the object does not present a safety threat. The investigation continues without a confirmed link to any specific satellite or launch vehicle.
