Las Vegas man surrenders after killing girlfriend and her two children during alleged blackout

Juan Orona, 29, surrendered to police shortly after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, carrying a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He told officers he had confronted his girlfriend, Nohani Flores-Osuna, at an apartment complex in west Las Vegas after she disclosed an affair with a man identified only as “Henry.” Orona said he “blacked out” and later found Flores-Osuna and her two children, 16-year-old Maiya and kindergartner Noah, dead on the floor, with his 9mm Glock in his hand.

Police entered the 5100 block of O’Bannon Drive, forced the door open and discovered the bodies. Orona was treated at Sunrise Hospital and then transferred to the Clark County Detention Center. He has not denied the shootings but claims he cannot recall the sequence of events.

He is charged with three counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and ten counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, and his public defender has asked to delay the bail decision. A further court appearance is set for September 9.
