Las Vegas OYO hotel accused of marketing fake brands to mislead guests
OYO Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas allegedly listed its rooms under two fabricated hotel names, Palette Las Vegas and Collection O Las Vegas, to attract bookings.
According to Vital Vegas, OYO Hotel & Casino on Tropicana Avenue has been promoting its rooms under two fictitious hotel identities, Palette Las Vegas and Collection O Las Vegas, on platforms such as Booking.com, Expedia and Travelocity. The listings featured AI-modified images that replaced OYO’s real signage with the new brand logos, and both claimed the same address as OYO’s 115 E. Tropicana Ave. A guest who booked through the Palette listing was told at the front desk that the property was OYO, with staff explaining the alternate name was used to attract more attention.
The ruse also let the fake hotels generate new review scores, sidestepping OYO’s 1.7-star Yelp rating, while early reviews for Collection O already show low scores. Vital Vegas noted that the names are tied to OYO’s parent company Prism, but they do not appear on any physical signage. No legal finding of fraud has been reported, and Nevada’s bait-and-switch definition may not apply.
Why it matters
Travelers could be misled into booking rooms that are not what they appear to be, affecting consumer trust and hotel reputations.
