Lawmaker says PhilHealth still holds over P311 billion in unspent funds
Representative Albert Garcia told lawmakers that more than P311 billion earmarked for PhilHealth has not been released, covering the period from 2019 to 2027.
During a debate on the 2027 health-sector budget, Bataan Rep. Albert Garcia disclosed that PhilHealth has P311 billion in state funding that remains unspent. The unreleased amount includes P199.44 billion of obligatory money from sin-tax collections, gaming regulator revenues and sweepstakes proceeds, as well as an additional P112.04 billion that has been appropriated but not yet disbursed. The sin-tax portion totals P133.22 billion, while the gaming and sweepstakes share is P62.22 billion.
