LB Group launches RM1 billion titanium dioxide plant in Gurun, Kedah

LB Group Co Ltd, a global producer of titanium dioxide and advanced inorganic chemicals, broke ground on a RM1 billion plant in Gurun, Kedah, through its subsidiary LB Advanced Material Asia Sdn Bhd. The 24.3-hectare site in the Gurun Heavy Industrial Park will see an initial RM600 million investment, with a target capacity of 300,000 tonnes per year once fully operational. MIDA chief executive Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim highlighted the project as a vote of confidence in Malaysia’s manufacturing hub potential and its alignment with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and Chemical Industry Roadmap 2030.

Director Liang one outlet cited the plant’s proximity to highways, rail links and Penang Port as key to export efficiency. The venture is expected to create over 300 skilled positions and bolster Kedah’s chemical manufacturing ecosystem.
