LDS Apostles Uchtdorf and Andersen Visit Spokane After Devastating Wildfires
Two senior leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints traveled to Spokane, Washington, to comfort members affected by recent wildfires.
In the wake of three wildfires that scorched north Spokane, burning thousands of acres and displacing tens of thousands, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf and Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles visited the city on Sunday, Aug. 23. They convened with members from multiple stakes, drawing a crowd of about 1,300 at the Spokane Washington North Stake Center, while others listened through a live broadcast.
During the gathering, the apostles delivered messages emphasizing covenant blessings, divine presence, and encouragement for those coping with loss. They also inspected the charred neighborhoods, speaking directly with residents whose homes were destroyed. Their presence aimed to convey the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to a community still reeling from the disaster.
