Leading cardiologist urges White House to disclose President Trump's worsening health issues

Appearing on Erin Burnett OutFront, Dr. Reiner described the president as frequently dozing in the Oval Office and noted persistent bruising on both hands and severe leg swelling. He suggested these signs could indicate cardiac, kidney or sleep-apnea related conditions. Reiner criticized the administration for not addressing the issues and urged transparency about the president’s medical status.

During one outlet's interview, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, former cardiologist to Vice President Dick Cheney, said President Trump looks unwell and has shown a pattern of falling asleep in the Oval Office. He highlighted ongoing bruises on the president’s hands that the White House has attributed to handshaking, and pronounced leg swelling that may signal heart or kidney problems. Reiner warned that untreated sleep apnea could exacerbate cardiac and cognitive risks.

He argued that the president’s health is a matter of national importance and that the White House should provide a complete medical report. The White House spokesperson dismissed the concerns as partisan speculation, calling the president “sharp” and “energetic.”

Why it matters

The president’s health can affect his ability to lead and influence national and global decisions.
