Leak Reveals Payments to Silent Ransom Group Behind Law Firm Extortions
A data leak posted online has uncovered cryptocurrency payments made to the Silent Ransom Group, a cyber-extortion outfit targeting law firms.
An online leak identified as the "Luna Moth Files" contains extensive data allegedly belonging to the Silent Ransom Group, a notorious cyber-extortion syndicate. The material shows chat transcripts, ransom demand figures and dozens of cryptocurrency wallet addresses used by the group. Chainalysis, a blockchain analytics firm, verified that some of the leaked wallets are linked to millions of dollars in ransomware payments, highlighting a US$10 million transaction from mid-2026.
The FBI had earlier warned that the group infiltrates law firms, contacts employees by phone or email, and sometimes visits offices to gain network access. Reported victims include prominent firms Fox Rothschild and Jones Day. While the authenticity of the leak cannot be independently confirmed, the disclosed one outlet suggests a sizable financial operation behind the extortions.
