Ledgebrook secures over £150 million to expand AI-driven specialty insurance platform
Ledgebrook has raised more than £150 million in primary equity funding, led in part by Allianz X, to grow its AI-native underwriting system and broaden its specialty insurance services.
Ledgebrook announced a primary equity raise exceeding £150 million, with Allianz X co-leading the round, to scale its AI-native specialty insurance platform. The funds will be used to deepen the functionality of Blackbird, the company’s underwriting engine that reads submissions, classifies risk, and generates technical pricing within hours. This rapid quoting capability targets general liability, professional liability and other specialty lines for mid-sized firms in the excess and surplus market, distributed through wholesale brokers.
The capital injection also backs talent recruitment and further technology development. Concurrently, Allianz Re entered a multi-year reinsurance agreement with Ledgebrook, expanding Allianz X’s U.S. property-and-casualty platform. Ledgebrook aims to surpass $1 billion in cumulative premiums written since its 2023 launch.
Why it matters
The funding accelerates AI adoption in niche insurance, promising faster, more accurate coverage for complex risks.
