Leeds paedophile Paul Benstock sentenced to 37 years for decades of child abuse

In Leeds Crown Court, Paul Benstock was sentenced to 37 years for a series of sexual and physical assaults on children spanning several decades. The 62-year-old was convicted of more than 40 offences, ranging from rape to weapon-based attacks, with the court hearing that he used fear, violence and humiliation to control his victims. Judge Neil Clark called the conduct "the most unpleasant sexual offending that can be imagined" and designated Benstock a dangerous offender.

Victims’ impact statements, read by prosecutor Kitty Colley, described ongoing nightmares, loss of identity and reliance on drugs to cope. Detective Sergeant Michelle Barnes of the Leeds Safeguarding Unit highlighted the bravery of four additional victims who came forward after the first report. Benstock will serve a 30-year custodial term followed by a seven-year extended licence period.
