Leeds United Near Loan Deal for Nice Left-Back Melvin Bard

Leeds United are on the verge of completing a loan agreement for Nice's 25-year-old defender Melvin Bard, which includes a future purchase clause. The initial fee to the French club is set at one million euros, with a further five-million-euro option to make the move permanent after the season. Bard is expected to travel to Elland Road for a medical examination on deadline day.

The addition aims to strengthen Leeds' left-back depth, complementing Gabriel Gudmundsson, the sole left-sided defender currently available to manager Daniel Farke. The club also faces uncertainty in attack after Willy Gnonto's transfer to Fiorentina, and this loan would be Leeds' sixth senior acquisition of the summer following signings of goalkeepers James Trafford and Michael Zetterer, defenders Nico Elvedi and Tarik Muharemovic, and forward Harry Wilson.
