Left Party MP Mohamed Abdukardir Ali steps back as election‑fraud probe is reopened

Prosecutors have reopened a fraud investigation into alleged irregularities in the Dalarna voting district, including claims that voters were taken to polling stations with pre‑marked ballots. Mohamed Abdukardir Ali, the newly elected Left Party representative from Borlänge, has announced he will not take his Riksdag seat while the inquiry proceeds. Party secretary Maria Forsberg emphasized that Ali is not formally suspected and that any decision about the seat will depend on the investigation’s findings.

Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar said the party will wait for the facts of the case before commenting further, noting that a temporary leave has been arranged although no formal request has been filed. The probe follows earlier reports of possible vote‑buying and ballot manipulation in the area.
