Left-wing extremists target CDU offices with manure dump and bag attack
After a warning from the CDU Baden-Württemberg, the party faced a color-bag attack in Mannheim and a horse-manure dump outside its Bremen office.
Christian Gehring, the CDU’s Baden-Württemberg managing director, warned party branches to remain alert after receiving a notice from the state police. The first reported act was a color-bag device left at the CDU district office in Mannheim/Rhein-Neckar. Within 24 hours, a second attack occurred in Bremen’s historic Altstadt, where activists dumped multiple wheelbarrows of horse manure at the entrance of the CDU office, laid a four-metre banner with a profane slogan, and scattered flyers.
The attackers claimed affiliation with the Interventionistische Linke and the Bündnis Widersetzen, linking the action to criticism of an AfD regional president in Saxony-Anhalt. Similar vandalism was reported in several other German cities. Authorities have opened a criminal investigation and are seeking witnesses.
Why it matters
