Legendary 'Friday the 13th' Screenwriter Victor Miller Dies at 86

Victor Miller, the screenwriter behind the 1980 classic Friday the 13th, died at 86, his son Ian announced via Instagram on Monday. The family has not released details about the cause of death. Miller’s original screenplay, co-written with Ron Kurz for director Sean S. Cunningham, sparked a franchise that has endured for over four decades.

He also collaborated with Cunningham on the 1982 thriller A Stranger Is Watching and contributed scripts to several soap operas, including One Life to Live and General Hospital. A memorial service is scheduled for November on a Friday the 13th, reflecting his iconic work. Miller leaves behind his wife, two sons and a grandson.
