Legionella detection forces water-use limits at Kisvárda's St. Damien Greek Catholic Hospital
Legionella bacteria were found in the water system of the Szent Damján Görögkatolikus Kórház in Kisvárda, prompting restrictions on water use.
Tests by the water-quality monitoring service identified legionella in several points of the hospital’s plumbing. The facility has halted normal water consumption in the affected pavilion and begun thorough disinfection of pipes and faucets. Bottled drinking water is being supplied while the network is being upgraded, and patient care continues without interruption.
Why it matters
Ensuring safe water in a hospital prevents serious infections and protects vulnerable patients.
