Lenovo unveils ultra-thin laptop concept with fan-less solid-state cooling
Lenovo showcased a 14-inch Project AeroBlade concept at IFA 2026 that uses Frore’s AirJet solid-state cooling, eliminating fans and allowing a sub-10 mm profile.
At the IFA 2026 trade show, Lenovo introduced the Project AeroBlade, a 14-inch concept laptop that employs Frore’s AirJet solid-state cooling technology, removing the need for traditional fans. The prototype is less than 10 mm thick and weighs under 830 g, making it considerably thinner and lighter than current ThinkPad X1 Carbon models. AirJet uses piezo-electric membranes to force airflow through the chassis, resulting in a near-silent experience while still actively cooling the Intel Lunar Lake processor inside.
The concept also features Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and an OLED display, with the possibility of upgraded chips for a future commercial version. Lenovo’s communications director Jeff Witt said a market-ready AeroBlade would likely receive a newer processor. The design eliminates bottom vents, reducing dust ingress and potentially improving long-term reliability.
