Leuteris Petrounias wins silver at Rotterdam World Gymnastics Championships

Greek Olympic champion Leuteris Petrounias earned a silver medal in the rings final at the World Championships in Rotterdam, finishing behind China's Singiu Lan.

At the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam, veteran Greek gymnast Leuteris Petrounias secured a silver medal on the rings, scoring 14.333. This marks his fifth medal at world championships, following golds in 2015, 2017 and 2018 and a silver in 2023. Petrounias barely made the final, qualifying eighth after a weaker showing in the preliminaries, but his experience carried him to the podium.

China's Singiu Lan captured his first world title with a 14.766 performance, while Artur Avestisan of Armenia earned bronze with 14.233. The final also featured competitors from Japan, Russia, Turkey, Great Britain and Belgium, whose scores ranged from 14.133 down to 12.833.

Why it matters
