Liberal candidate Jacky Sun advised after concerns over student volunteer recruitment flyers

The Victorian Liberal Party announced that its Glen Waverley candidate, Jacky Sun, has been counselled after media inquiries about a volunteer internship program advertised to Mandarin-speaking international students. Posters in English and Chinese were distributed at a “Freshers Welcome” event in North Melbourne, promising participants the chance to meet politicians, undertake door-knocking and fundraising tasks, and receive a reference letter from a senior MP or minister.

No party or candidate was identified on the materials, and the party said the flyers were not Liberal Party material, though Sun was not present at the event. The internship period aligns with the state election timeline, and the recruitment was linked to an unregistered group called BestWay Community Network. The Liberal Party declined to comment on Sun’s wife, Danzi "Daisy" Song, and the Victorian Electoral Commission said it would assess any possible breach of electoral law.
