Libertarian Scholar Discusses Migration Rights in Speak Freely Interview

A recent Speak Freely interview explored the case for migration rights, comparing immigration limits to medieval serfdom and examining anti-immigrant sentiment.

During LibertyCon Europe, a libertarian academic sat down with Speak Freely to argue for open migration, likening current immigration bans to the constraints of medieval serfdom. The discussion traced the origins of anti-immigrant attitudes and evaluated the most compelling cases for restrictionist policies. It also connected migration debates to larger dangers posed by nationalism, zero-sum mentalities, and widespread political illiteracy.

The interview was shaped by questions from Speak Freely’s editor-in-chief Ogechukwu Egwuatu, who herself migrated from Africa to France. Speak Freely is a publication of European Students for Liberty, and the full transcript and video are available online. The scholar reflected on differences between European and American libertarian circles in a related blog post.
