Liberty hope to field near-full roster as Jones and Fiebich target Saturday showdown
Jonquel Jones and Leonie Fiebich say they expect to play Saturday against the Indiana Fever, bringing the Liberty close to a full lineup.
After a practice on Friday, Jonquel Jones and Leonie Fiebich expressed confidence that they will be available for the Liberty’s Saturday contest with the Indiana Fever, potentially giving New York its most complete squad in weeks. Jones, who missed the latter part of Tuesday’s loss in Chicago due to a tweaked left ankle, said she feels “good” and is taped up, while Fiebich, returning from a lingering left foot injury, described herself as “very excited” to get back on the floor.
Head coach Chris DeMarco cautioned that final clearance will come after consulting the team’s performance and medical personnel. The lineup will still lack Satou Sabally, who stepped away earlier this month after suffering a second concussion in eight months. Meanwhile, Nigerian forward Elizabeth Balogun signed a developmental deal, replacing Marine Fauthoux, and DeMarco praised Balogun’s 3-and-D abilities as the team works out her role.
