Lili Horvát's English-language debut 'Notes from Mars' opens Venice Days

At the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, Lili Horvát presented her inaugural English-language feature, Notes from Mars, as the opening film of the Venice Days (Giornate degli Autori) competition. Backed by the National Film Institute and created with Austrian, French, German, Bosnian, Montenegrin and American partners, the romantic drama stars Mackenzie Davis and Rupert Friend, both of whom were present for the premiere.

Reviewers highlighted the film’s bold narrative approach, its existential depth, and the nuanced performances of the leads. The cinematography by Róbert Maly, editing by Károly Szalai, and music by Gábor Keresztes received particular commendation. The film is slated for future distribution in Hungarian cinemas by Mozinet.
