Lisbon Wins Top European Awards for City and Cruise Tourism

At the World Travel Awards Europe 2026, Lisbon received the top honors for best city destination and best cruise destination across the continent. The ceremony took place in Montenegro, where António Valle, director-general of the Lisbon Tourism Association, praised the awards as evidence of the city’s distinctiveness and the collaborative work to improve its tourism products. The association emphasized that the recognitions validate its strategy of investing in quality experiences, heritage, and cultural assets throughout the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.

It aims to attract visitors who stay longer, explore diverse neighborhoods, and generate greater economic and social value. The World Travel Awards are internationally recognized industry accolades decided by votes from tourism professionals and the global public.
