Listeria contamination prompts recall of Brubakken gårdsmeieri white cheeses
White cheeses Heidrun and Gullros from Brubakken gårdsmeieri are being recalled after Listeria monocytogenes was detected, and consumers are advised to discard them.
Brubakken gårdsmeieri has withdrawn its white cheese varieties, Heidrun and Gullros, after laboratory tests identified the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was issued by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, which urges anyone who bought the cheeses to discard them immediately. The affected items were distributed through multiple retail outlets, including Bunnpris locations in Tyholt, Aspøya and Batnfjord, as well as Bybeta in Kristiansund, Hammerstuene in Surnadal, and Små poter in Sykkylven.
They were also available at Reko rings, the local farmers' market, the Ålesund food festival and the Hjørundfjord food and culture day in Ørsta. Listeria can cause listeriosis, a rare but severe disease that primarily threatens pregnant individuals, people with weakened immune systems, and older adults. Authorities stress the importance of removing the product from homes to prevent potential illness.
