Listhaug demands full parliamentary access to Telenor's Myanmar communications

Sylvi Listhaug, leader of the Progress Party, has pressed the Norwegian government to release all documents relating to its discussions with Telenor concerning the firm's former operations in Myanmar. The request follows the recent indictment of Telenor for alleged participation in crimes against humanity and violations of sanctions law, stemming from the company's provision of citizen data to the military regime after the 2021 coup.

The Storting's control and constitutional committee has been blocked from seeing key records, a pattern Listhaug says must end. She emphasized that the police and security services' indictment makes it essential for parliament to obtain the missing information. The issue has been under investigation for about a year, and the committee has also asked the national audit office to examine Telenor's Myanmar activities.
