Live-Action 'Street Fighter' Film Debuts on October 16 with Star-Studded Cast
The new 'Street Fighter' live-action movie arrives in theaters on October 16, 2026, directed by Kitao Sakurai and featuring Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo and Callina Liang among a large ensemble.
After more than two decades since the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme version, a new live-action 'Street Fighter' film opens on October 16, 2026. Director Kitao Sakurai, who previously helmed four episodes of Peacock's Twisted Metal, took over the project from the Philippou brothers and worked alongside Capcom, the game's original developer. The story is set in 1993 and tracks Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) as they are drawn back into combat by Chun-Li (Callina Liang) for the World Warrior Tournament, all while a deadly conspiracy threatens them.
The ensemble features David Dastmalchian as M. Bison and a roster of fighters portrayed by actors such as Jason Momoa, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, and Orville Peck, with stunt coordinator John Valera ensuring authentic fighting styles. Earlier adaptations include the 1994 film, a 2009 spin-off, and several short series. A sequel is already being written, but its fate depends on the new movie's box-office performance, with opening-weekend projections ranging from $20 million to $40 million.
