Liverpool reportedly tried to poach Emirates as Arsenal sponsor
A report says Liverpool FC explored taking over Emirates' sponsorship of Arsenal, which could have blocked Arsenal's renewal.
Reports indicate Liverpool FC attempted to secure Emirates as its primary shirt sponsor, aiming to replace Standard Chartered ahead of the 2027/28 season. The club's move would have conflicted with Arsenal's existing Emirates contract, potentially stopping Arsenal from renewing the deal. Arsenal has since announced a fresh sponsorship arrangement with Emirates that runs through 2033, encompassing the front-of-shirt logo, training kit and the naming rights to the Emirates Stadium.
The new terms raise the club's earnings to £65 million for the upcoming two seasons, increasing to £75 million per season thereafter, plus possible bonuses of up to £15 million for major titles. The extension was finalized by outgoing Arsenal chief commercial officer Juliet Slot as one of her last actions before leaving the club later this year. Liverpool remains partnered with Standard Chartered for now, with a sponsor change planned for 2027/28.
