Lloyds Banking Group to shut 17 Halifax and Lloyds branches in November

Lloyds Banking Group announced that 17 Halifax and Lloyds Bank branches will close in November as part of a continued shift toward digital banking.

Lloyds Banking Group confirmed that a total of 17 Halifax and Lloyds Bank branches are scheduled to close in November, adding to a pattern of closures driven by the rise of online banking. The closures span locations such as Clacton-on-Sea, Dalston, Ilford, and several sites in Liverpool and Leicester, among others. The group, which also operates Bank of Scotland, emphasized that customers will still be able to access the full range of services at remaining branches or via its digital platforms.

It highlighted its commitment to understanding the impact on customers and noted that community bankers will make visits to areas where branches shut down to ensure continued support. With more than 10 million users of its mobile app, the group is focusing on expanding its digital offering while maintaining physical presence where needed.

Why it matters

The closures show how traditional banks are reshaping their networks in response to growing digital banking adoption.
