Lobbyist says Liberal faction The Reformers became a toxic environment during ICAC probe

The NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption is examining claims that prohibited donations were routed through third parties to benefit the conservative Christian faction known as the NSW Reformers and to further the interests of fugitive property developer Jean Nassif. Lobbyist Jeremy Greenwood testified that the group became so toxic he advised his friends to withdraw, and he portrayed his role as limited to informal social interactions and occasional policy input.

He insisted he was not a member, while counsel Peggy Dwyer SC contended that his statements and actions demonstrated clear support for the Reformers in 2019. The probe also scrutinises Greenwood’s former company Beckington for allegedly disguising political donations as lobbying fees. Additional allegations involve money from Nassif’s company Toplace being funneled through entities linked to Greenwood before reaching Reformers members. Greenwood mentioned ongoing contact with co-founder Christian Ellis, who resides in the UK and has avoided appearing before the commission.
