Local group files federal civil-rights complaint alleging voter intimidation over McKinney recall

Collin County Citizens for Integrity lodged a civil-rights complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice, accusing individuals of intimidating voters involved in a recall petition against McKinney City Council members. The complaint, addressed to Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, details reports of signers being photographed, publicly named on social platforms, and receiving threatening messages, such as an anonymous text that mentioned closing Edward Jones accounts.

It also references a radio interview that identified petition supporters and alleges moderators allowed harassment on Facebook groups. The organization is requesting a federal review to assess whether the behavior constitutes intimidation, coercion, or other violations of voting-rights law, and it has called on Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton to look into the matter. Residents like Craig Fylling and an unnamed petitioner have reported fear of doxxing and employment retaliation. The McKinney City Council and the DOJ have not commented.
