Local groups rally against proposed 400-kV high-voltage line through the Camargue
Farmers, environmentalists and cultural representatives are opposing a 400 kV transmission line intended to supply Fos-sur-Mer’s industrial zone.
A coalition called THT 13/30, comprising agricultural unions, environmental NGOs, cultural figures and tourism operators, has organized a protest in Arles’ ancient theater. The line would cross the Camargue, linking nuclear plants in the Rhône valley to the industrial area of Fos-sur-Mer. Municipal and community councils have voiced strong objections, and a petition has gathered significant local support. Demonstrations have been ongoing for two years across the region.
