Local investors keep buying on Bursa Malaysia as foreign funds pull out
Local institutions added RM352.4 million in net purchases on Bursa Malaysia last week, while foreign investors recorded RM799.9 million of net sales.
According to MBSB Investment Bank's weekly fund flow report, local institutional investors recorded a net inflow of RM352.4 million on Bursa Malaysia for the week ending 2 October, marking a second consecutive week of buying. Retail investors maintained their momentum, achieving a sixth week of net inflows amounting to RM447.5 million. Foreign institutions, however, were net sellers for two weeks running, withdrawing RM799.9 million in total, with the largest daily outflow of RM228.4 million on Wednesday.
The technology, energy and construction sectors attracted the most foreign buying, while financial services, utilities and healthcare saw the greatest foreign withdrawals. Average daily trading volume rose for retail investors and foreign institutions but fell for local institutions.
