Logan pushes ahead with $156 million baseball-softball stadium for Brisbane 2032
A pre-feasibility study for a privately financed baseball and softball arena in Logan will be tabled at council this week, moving Mayor Jon Raven’s Olympic-venue plan forward.
Logan City Council is set to receive a pre-feasibility report on a privately funded baseball and softball stadium, a project championed by Mayor Jon Raven to host diamond sports during the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. The study, produced by Torch Advisory Group together with architecture firm Populous and consultancy Quantiv, puts the cost at $156 million for a 4,000-seat venue that can be temporarily enlarged to 10,000 seats.
It highlights the lack of a dedicated elite diamond-sports facility in Queensland and argues that exclusion from the Olympic programme would reduce investment appeal. An accompanying investment memorandum stresses the Games as a “significant catalyst” and notes that the site would be on land supplied by Griffith University at its Meadowbrook campus. The plan includes a retractable mound, a secondary diamond, corporate suites, and a function room, with transport links via Loganlea station and a shuttle drop-off. The Brisbane Bandits have expressed willingness to relocate to Logan as an anchor tenant, and the report identifies international spring-training camps and high-performance pathways as revenue drivers.
Why it matters
The stadium could give Logan a lasting sports, tourism and economic boost while supporting Brisbane's Olympic plans.
