London holds ceremony to honor 9/11 victims on 25th anniversary
A memorial service took place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London to mark 25 years since the September 11 attacks.
At 11 a.m. on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, a commemorative event was staged at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Organisers gathered to honor the 2,988 victims who died when hijacked planes struck the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. Prime Minister Andy Burnham used his X account to express sympathy for families, highlighting that 67 of those killed were British. He emphasized that the memory of the day should reinforce shared values and reject fear-driven division. The ceremony formed part of worldwide observances remembering the impact of the attacks.
