London Residents Urged to Get Free NHS Flu Shots at Pharmacies and GP Clinics

Health officials in London are encouraging eligible residents to obtain free NHS flu vaccinations at pharmacies or through their GP to ease upcoming winter pressure on hospitals.

With a noticeable rise in A&E attendances and ambulance incidents this September, London’s health authorities are pressing eligible residents to receive the free NHS flu vaccine before winter hits. Appointments can be secured via the NHS flu vaccination booking service, the NHS App, a phone line, or directly through GP surgeries. Major pharmacy chains, notably Boots and Day Lewis, offer both booked and walk-in options at participating locations, subject to availability.

The free jab is offered to adults over 65, pregnant women, individuals aged 18-64 with certain chronic conditions, eligible carers and frontline health and social-care staff. People who do not qualify may still obtain a private vaccine at pharmacies or clinics, with prices generally ranging from £20 to £35. Officials stress that early vaccination protects both the individual and vulnerable community members, helping to reduce the strain on hospitals during the flu season.
