Long Thanh Airport Nears Completion as Work Accelerates for December Launch

Throughout the week, contractors are intensifying efforts on the passenger terminal’s construction, architectural finishes, power connections and the installation of baggage-handling equipment, escalators and boarding bridges, alongside trial operation of the aircraft fuel supply system. According to Airports Corporation of Vietnam, Component Project 3 comprises 16 construction packages; four are finished and the remaining are progressing, with eight packages being fast-tracked and five already between 81% and near-completion.

The first runway, taxiway, apron and associated works are about 99% done, while the terminal apron is roughly 95% complete and the fuel system exceeds 97%. Critical path items—passenger terminal, airside transport and technical infrastructure, Cargo Terminal 1 and the parking structure—are receiving heightened coordination and manpower. Deputy General Director Vu Pham Nguyen An noted that the project, originally estimated at 45 months by a foreign consultant, is being pursued within a 39-month target, entering a decisive finishing stage.
