Longtime friends turned deadly: kidnapping and murder shock California community
Zhengfeng Bo allegedly kidnapped and shot his longtime friend Shukur Aikebaer at the latter's Chino Hills home, then placed the body in a car trunk.
Shukur Aikebaer and Zhengfeng Bo first crossed paths in Xinjiang, China, where Bo oversaw a public works project and Aikebaer served as a local official. Their friendship endured after both emigrated to Southern California, where they built quiet lives and were described by neighbor Tony Lu as having no disputes. On July 29, police allege Bo and his brother Jianquan Bo entered Aikebaer's Chino Hills home, shot him, and placed his body in a car trunk.
While Bo had previously expressed frustration over a costly Pasadena apartment project he believed was inflated by manager Jason Chiyuan Wang, he never implicated Aikebaer in that dispute. The violent act has left friends and family baffled, given the long-standing bond between the men. Bo is set to be arraigned on August 4 in Rancho Cucamonga.
